Water of Life is an exploration of Edinburgh told through water: fluid cartographies for a liquid city. Tommy Perman and Rob St. John used hydrophone, contact and ambient recordings of water in rivers, sewers, pub barrel rooms, drains, lochs, reservoirs, pipelines and springs mixed with harmonium, Philicorda, synth, autoharp and iPad to make this set of music celebrating the (often forgotten) entwined folkloric, industrial and pastoral stories in the carrying stream of Edinburgh's water. Extra voices on 'The Shellycoat' by Neil Pennycook, Clarissa Cheong and Ruben Bee. Research funded by Creative Scotland's 'Imagining Natural Scotland' fund.
